It’s interesting following developments in the on-off extradition of the Polish film director Roman Polanski. Wanted in the US on charges of having unlawful sex with an underage girl back in 1978, Polanski is currently under house arrest at his mountain chalet whilst Swiss authorities decide on whether to execute the United States extradition request.

Despite rallying cries of support for Polanski from a host of Hollywood celebrities, the facts of the case should not be forgotten. Given the seriousness of the alleged crime, it would send out a dangerous message if Polanski was not put on trial.

Nobody should be above the law, no matter what their age or background. Justice must prevail.
